Allan Kaster is an editor at Infinivox. He has published more than forty science fiction anthologies. He is the editor of several ongoing annual anthology series including: The Year's Top Hard Science Fiction Stories; The Year's Top Robot and AI Stories; The Year's Top Tales of Space and Time; and The Year's Best Science Fiction on Earth.
Previous anthologies he has published include: The Year’s Top Ten Tales of Science Fiction (# 1-10); The Year’s Top Short SF Novels (# 1-8); The 2020 Look at Space Opera Book; The 2020 Look at Mars Fiction Book; mini-Masterpieces of Science Fiction; Timeless Time Travel Tales; Steampunk Specs; Starship Vectors;and Aliens Rule.
He has also produced for AudioText the Great Science Fiction Stories audiobooks series of individual stories that include: “A Walk in the Sun” by Geoffrey A. Landis; “Beggars in Spain” by Nancy Kress; “The Chief Designer” by Andy Duncan; “Beyond the Aquila Rift” by Alastair Reynolds; “Schrödinger’s Kitten” by George Alec Effinger; and “Cilia-of-Gold” by Stephen Baxter.
The Year’s Top Hard Science Fiction Stories series has garnered nearly 500 five-star ratings on Amazon. The seventh volume of the series, which came out last year, was included on the 2023 Locus Recommended Reading List.
He is currently working on 3 Hard Shots at the Moon, a signed limited edition hardcover title that will reprint “Griffin’s Egg” by Michael Swanwick; “Stories for Men” by John Kessel; and “The Menace from Farside” by Ian McDonald. Each of these hard science fiction stories, set on the Moon, will have an interior, full-color illustration by Hugo Award nominated artist Maurizio Manzieri.
Allan lives in Texas with his wife of forty years, Mei-Ling.
